A Peak Matcha Experience for Pure Drinking
Zuisho (瑞祥) is the kind of matcha that people remember. It is positioned as a top-tier offering within Shogyokuen's ceremonial lineup and is best approached the way you'd approach a fine wine or rare cacao: slowly, quietly, with attention.
This is not a "throw it in a latte" matcha. Zuisho is for pure drinking, where aroma, mouthfeel, and aftertaste are the entire experience.
Chef Director’s Tasting Notes
“Perhaps the best matcha I’ve ever tasted… it evoked an ecstatic feeling beyond comprehension.”
Why “High-End Matcha” Is Different (Beyond the Word “Ceremonial”)
There's no single international standard that defines "ceremonial matcha". At the top end, what separates truly premium matcha isn't a label — it's the chain of decisions and constraints:
- shade-grown tencha destined for sweetness and umami
- slow stone milling (often ~40g per hour)
- expert blending and strict lot control
- freshness handling that protects the volatile aromas you’re paying for
Supervised by Shogyokuen’s 5th-generation tea master
This matcha is supervised by Shogyokuen's 5th-generation tea master Hiroshi Kobayashi (茶審査技術 十段 / Judan, Level Ten), who oversees sourcing, blending, and product supervision.
Freshness-first: 注文挽き (Ground-to-order)
Shogyokuen ships matcha as "注文挽き"(ground-to-order), keeping matcha closer to its best moment: aromatic, vivid, and alive.
Because ground-to-order freshness is the point, we only carry a small amount at a time and restock in limited drops — rather than holding large inventory for long periods.

FAQ
Is Zuisho “worth it”? If you drink matcha for the pure experience — Yes! The value is in the clarity, mouthfeel, and aftertaste you can’t replicate with typical “ceremonial grade” matcha.
Does water quality matter at this level? Yes 100%. With top-tier matcha, hard water can flatten sweetness and aroma. If your tap water is hard or chlorinated, filtered water usually tastes noticeably better.
For baking and making lattes, we recommend using Copper Tea’s line of matcha as the presence of astringency and bitterness balances the sweet and creamy nature of baked goods and mixed beverages.
