Japanese Bamboo Charcoal Powder – Food-Grade Black Colouring, 15 Micron

Gusta Supplies

$12.75

Create elegant grey-to-black colour in pastry, bakery and culinary preparations with this finely milled Japanese bamboo charcoal powder. Made from moso bamboo sourced from Shikoku, Japan, it is produced specifically for use as a plant-based food colouring.

Ground to approximately 15 microns, the extra-fine powder disperses smoothly through doughs, batters, creams and other mixtures with minimal perceptible texture. Its colour intensity can be adjusted from a subtle charcoal grey to a dramatic deep black, depending on the amount used and the natural colour of the recipe.

Why Choose This Japanese Bamboo Charcoal Powder?

  • Made from Japanese moso bamboo
  • Bamboo sourced from Shikoku, Japan
  • Extra-fine 15-micron particle size
  • Creates adjustable grey-to-black colour
  • Plant-based culinary colouring
  • Minimal impact on flavour when used appropriately
  • Suitable for sweet and savoury applications

Suggested Applications

Use bamboo charcoal powder to colour bread, buns, pizza dough, cakes, cookies, macarons, pastry creams, fillings, ice cream, frozen desserts, pasta, noodles, sauces and other culinary creations.

Add gradually and mix thoroughly until the desired shade is achieved. Because the powder disperses rather than fully dissolves, proper mixing is important for an even, consistent finish.

Made buns with this charcoal powder, turn out good, the buns were very soft and the black colour is as dark as it can be. Very good. It reads made in India and edible; I do wonder why type of charcoal it is though.
