Made from rare Venezuelan cocoa beans, Valrhona Araguani 72% can be compared to great wines with high tannins and a long lasting finish on the palate. It offers a rich and complex aromatic profile featuring warm notes (raisins, chestnuts) and hints of licorice.
Valrhona chose Sur del Lago, a Venezuelan region known for being home to a rich soil that lends Araguani all its aromatic complexity. The name Araguani is a reference to the Araguaney, an iconic Venezuelan tree, but also to the Guarani, one of the country’s indigenous peoples.
Valrhona shares a rich history with Venezuela. It all began in the 1990s with a commitment to rehabilitate the country’s ancient cocoa varieties – Porcelana, for example – and thereby ensure their survival. To this day we remain dedicated to our Venezuelan partner so that we can preserve the genetic diversity of this region’s cocoa plants, which make Araguani so special.
Araguani’s touch of vanilla, woody notes and hint of bitterness take you on an adventure through Venezuela’s patchwork of mountains, forests and salt water lakes.

Summer Shipping:
At above 26°C, cocoa butter in chocolate products may start melting, and recrystallize as white streaks or marks on the chocolate's surface. This phenomenon is called 'fat bloom'. While it may not have the perfect appearance, bloomed chocolates are safe to eat and use in recipes.
During summer months when the temperature is relatively warm, we advise adding cold packaging to your shipment in order to minimize the risk of melting. While we are careful and diligent in maintaining the temperature of your package, we unfortunately cannot guarantee the products in the cold packaging will not be affected by unusually warm weather and irregular transit time.
