New Summer Orange, or "Hyuganatsu" (Japanese: 日向夏) is a type of citrus fruit that originated in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. It is named after the region where it was first cultivated, Hyuga. Hyuganatsu is a hybrid citrus fruit, a cross between the pomelo and the satsuma mandarin.
Hyuganatsu citrus has a distinctive appearance with a bright yellow or orange-yellow peel that is slightly bumpy. The fruit is typically medium-sized and round in shape. What sets Hyuganatsu apart is its unique flavour profile. It has a sweet and tangy taste with floral notes, often compared to a combination of grapefruit and mandarin flavours. The flesh is juicy and somewhat pulpy.
This citrus fruit is particularly popular in Japan during the summer months when it is in season. Just like other citrus fruits, it is commonly enjoyed fresh as a refreshing snack or used in various culinary applications. Hyuganatsu is used in desserts, jams, juices, and as a flavouring in beverages. Its aromatic qualities and distinct flavour make it a sought-after citrus variety, especially among citrus enthusiasts and those who appreciate unique fruit flavours.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ON SHIPPING
While we make our best efforts to keep the puree cold when they reach you, we unfortunately cannot guarantee it being frozen, especially during the summer months or if you reside outside of Ontario.
If the puree arrives partially thawed, simply put it back in the freezer to keep its quality intact. In the event that they arrive completely thawed, so long as the inner seal is not broken, they are safe to use. Unused portions can be frozen again for longer term storage.
Purees with more fibres naturally separates when thawed. Simply stir to use. A good trick is to portion the purees in your own containers before refreezing them.
We hope you enjoy the freshness of Taka purees and the vibrant colours and excellent flavours they bring to your recipes.
