Gusta Supplies is for people who care about cooking, pastry and the craft behind good food.
We bring together quality ingredients, professional tools, books and learning resources for chefs, culinary students, bakers, pastry professionals and passionate home cooks — including specialty products that can sometimes be difficult to find.
But Gusta Supplies was never created simply to fill shelves.
It began with a belief that still guides us today: when people have access to good ingredients, good tools and good knowledge, they have a better opportunity to create something they are proud of.
It began inside Gusta Cooking Studio
Gusta Supplies began in 2016 in a small space inside Gusta Cooking Studio.
The chef who founded the Studio believed that learning to cook should be practical, generous and hands-on. People should be able to understand their ingredients, learn the techniques behind what they are making, ask questions and build confidence through experience.
While teaching, he kept encountering another problem.
Many of the ingredients and professional tools familiar to chefs were surprisingly difficult to access in Canada. Students and home cooks could learn a technique in class, yet finding the right ingredient or tool to continue practising at home was not always easy.
Gusta Supplies grew from the belief that this gap should be smaller.
At first, it was only a modest selection within the Studio—a way to make useful ingredients and tools easier to reach. Over time, those few shelves began to need more shelves. Then more space.
COVID changed kitchens for many people. For some, cooking became a new skill to learn. For others, baking became a way to spend time, stay connected, experiment, or simply make something comforting during an uncertain period.
We saw interest in ingredients and tools grow, and the small area that Gusta Supplies occupied inside the Cooking Studio could no longer accommodate what customers were looking for.
What had started as a small part of the Studio had gradually become a place with its own community and its own purpose.
In 2025, Gusta Supplies moved into its current home in Markham.
The surroundings changed. The reason for being here did not.

Choosing with purpose
There are many products we could carry. We would rather be thoughtful about the ones we choose.
Our selection is shaped by the chef behind Gusta Cooking Studio and by years spent around cooking, pastry and culinary education.
We look for ingredients, tools and learning resources that have a genuine purpose — things that help someone prepare better, understand more, work more precisely or explore something they could not easily explore before.
Sometimes that means a professional tool.
Sometimes it is an ingredient that is commonplace in another part of the world but difficult to find here.
Sometimes it is a book that helps someone finally understand the why behind a technique.
We are not trying to have everything.
We are trying to make worthwhile things easier to find.

Learning and making belong together
Although Gusta Supplies now has a home of its own, Gusta Cooking Studio remains part of our story.
The Studio and Supplies share the same underlying belief.
Knowledge gives people the confidence to try.
Good ingredients and tools give them the ability to put that knowledge into practice.
One supports the other.
Being connected to culinary education also reminds us that the products on our shelves are never only products. Eventually, someone will hold that tool in their hands. Someone will open that ingredient in their kitchen. Someone will attempt a technique they have never tried before.
Sometimes they are preparing for a professional kitchen.
Sometimes they are learning simply because they are curious.
And sometimes they are making something for someone they love.
That is the part we never want to lose sight of.

Today, Gusta Supplies has a physical home at 2800 John Street, Unit 25, Markham, Ontario.
Customers are welcome to visit, take their time and browse our selection in person.
We know that shopping for culinary products is not always the same as buying something ordinary. Sometimes you want to see the size of a mould for yourself. Pick up a tool. Read through a book. Compare ingredients. Or discover something you did not know existed before you walked in.
Gusta Supplies operates as a wholesale business, so an account is required to complete purchases in person. Registration allows us to serve professional and individual customers within the same business while keeping our doors open to anyone who would like to come in and explore.

Still guided by the same belief
Gusta Supplies has changed considerably since those first shelves appeared inside Gusta Cooking Studio in 2016.
But the idea behind them has not.
We believe cooking is worth learning.
We believe craftsmanship is worth supporting.
We believe ingredients and tools matter.
And we believe people should have better access to the products and knowledge that help them keep learning, experimenting and creating.
There will always be another ingredient to discover, another technique to understand and another dish waiting to be made.
