The name of this soy sauce came from Rosanjin Kitaoji (北大路 魯山人), who is the most famous gourmet, potter, cook and artist in Japanese history.  The Rosanjin Club was formed to honour his spirit, and that club gave the honour to Yuasa Soy Sauce to make the highest quality soy sauce to bear his name.

At Yuasa, they make this soy sauce in cedar barrels with special soybeans, wheat and rice, which are all cultivated in Hokkaido using the Natural Method, without any fertilizer or pesticide. The Natural Method has stricter standards than even organic so it is called "Miracle Soy Sauce".

Rosanjin Soy Sauce has a rich aroma, deep flavour and umami from the amazing ingredients used. It is said that it is beyond soy sauce!

Because it is made from natural materials, it will age.

At the time of release, it has a young and fresh flavour.  As it matures gradually, the taste and colour will change.  Enjoy the changes in taste, colour, and aroma that occur over time thanks to traditional soy sauce production using natural ingredients.

New edition is released on March 23 every year, the birthday of Rosanjin.  Each bottle comes with a serial number on the label because production quantity is very limited.

Ingredients: naturally grown soybeans (organic certified), wheat ((organic certified), rice (naturally cultivated without fertilizer), salt

    Yuasa Soy Sauce Co., Ltd. was established with the desire to produce the best soy sauce in Japan and the world.  This very soy sauce was their first product.  It combines traditional Yuasa methods and ancient techniques inspired by a 1,500 years old agricultural text and cookbook, Saimin Jijutsu 斉民要術.

    • Salt used is harvested from Goto Nada Sea, Nagasaki
    • 100% Tamba Kuromame (black soybean) used
    • Soybeans are boiled in cauldrons for 4 hours, rather than industrially steamed
    • The boiling juice is used in place of water for extra umami
    • Barrel aging mash is paddled manually over the period of 2 years
    • Skimming, mixing, paddling, straining are all done by hand
